Taipei is the capital of Taiwan, a city known for underrated nightlife and incredibly educated, intelligent girls among the more traditional attractions.
Taiwanese women in the capital often speak decent English, have good jobs, and a slight obsession with foreign men, the latter being easy to put to good use if you’re a digital nomad, traveler or expat there.
The city already has its fair share of expats, so it’s no longer the hidden gem it was several years ago, but it’s not yet Thailand either.
The truth is that you will still not find many foreigners here, which is a bonus in my opinion, no matter if you’re here for the views or for meeting a beautiful lady.
I actually wrote an in-depth guide to Taipei girls, so make sure you check that out to make sure you have all the tips and overview ready for when you actually get here.
If you like to party and don’t want to learn an Asian language, then Taipei could be the perfect spot for you. Let’s learn everything a single traveler should know about Taipei, Taiwan.
Taipei, Taiwan Quick Facts
Population: Around 2.5 million people in the city proper, as of 2023.
Weather: Taipei is a warmer city than most, but it’s not too tropical. You’ll find weather varies from month to month here.
During June, July, and August – you can expect temperatures in the 80s. In the winter months, lows reach the mid-50s.
Rain can be an issue, too. September is definitely the worst month for rain in Taipei.
Safety: Taipei is safe. Honestly, you shouldn’t have any security issues here. This isn’t Latin America, or even the Philippines.
Travel Tips & Information
MUSTS: One of the reasons Taipei doesn’t get that many tourists is that there’s no real “Must” do thing in the city.
If you must do one tourist thing in the city, try and check out Taipei 101 which you can see in some of the photos accompanying this article.
The view from this giant skyscraper is certainly worth it for the Instagram photo alone.
Apart from that, Taipei is beautiful for sure, and you will not get bored here by any means. However, it’s not chock-full of attractions like other Asian countries offer.
Also, having in mind that there are somewhat tense relationships between Taipei and China, many people avoid traveling here due to safety issues.
I personally don’t think there’s anything to worry about, but at the same time you can never be too safe, I’d say…
Apartment Prices: Taipei isn’t dirt cheap like other Asian locales. You’ll need between $700-1,200 per month for a decent apartment in Xinyi, which is in the heart of the city and where you should stay when visiting.
Unless you must be close to a different area, you must be in Xinyi, because that is where all the things happen and where you have the most to see and enjoy.
Hostel Dorm Prices: $10-20 a night for a dorm bed is about right here, while hotels start at around $30 per night.

Nightlife in Taipei, Taiwan: So why do many people come to Taipei? To party!
The nightlife in Taipei is surprisingly good. Well, it can be awesome. There’s a decent high-end scene, and it can be pretty international, too.

There are a million and one options to party in Taipei, but we’ll keep things simple here. On any given weekend, you’ll want to check out:
- Omni: You should start your partying in Taipei at Omni. It’s been revamped and is beyond legit. You can meet some really fine Taiwanese women here, and they’ll be interested in foreigners. If you can get into KOR (inside Omni), then you may meet some high-class chicks. However, I found the girls in KOR to be a little more difficult.
- Elektro: A pumping club playing electronic music, this spot is huge and draws some big names to perform. You can meet some beautiful chicks in here. Just know – this is more of a “megaclub” type of place. Girls will be cute here.
- Babe 18: You won’t meet the cutest girls in Taipei in Babe 18. However, they will be interested in foreigners and the music rocks. Well, if you like hip-hop, then the music rocks. I met a few Taiwanese women who loved foreigners in this spot, so it’s worth checking out.
Price of a Beer: $3-11 USD
Price of a Bottle: $100+ (not that cheap here)
Online Dating in Taipei, Taiwan: Taiwanese women are somewhat westernized. So online dating in Taipei is a little different than other Asian cities and countries.
You’ll want to hit up Tinder while you’re here, in addition to utilizing Asian Dating.
The latter is a premium service and it allows you not only to establish relationships before landing in Taiwan, but also offers somewhat lower competition and only ladies that are already looking for a relationship. Easy-peasy.
Chance of Hooking Up in Taipei: 8/10 (10/10 using the site recommended above).
You shouldn’t have much of an issue meeting a girl in Taiwan – if you’re a foreign guy who rents an apartment and stays for a few weeks or more, then life will be nice and easy for you.
This isn’t Thailand or Indonesia, but you still have a decent shot at meeting some fine, educated Taiwanese women in Taipei with a little effort.
I wrote a guide on Taiwanese women in general too – make sure to check it out for some extra tips.
