Best Restaurants in Prague: A Food Lover’s Guide
One of the things that I appreciated about Prague the most (despite the amazing attractions in the city) was the food. Prague is a foodie’s paradise, with an impressive numbers of cuisines available. High quality, tasty food too!
And today, I am here to share the best restaurants in Prague, most of which we’ve personally experienced (some more than once!) during our month-long stay in Prague.
Speaking of which – make sure to read my article about the cost of living in Prague for a month. Plus experiences and more insider tidbits.
Let’s not keep you waiting, though – there are tons of great places to explore and I have all the details below!
1. Jaffa Restaurant
Without a doubt, this was my favorite restaurant in Prague and one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. The food was absolutely delicious and we visited the place a few times during our month-long stay.
It’s one of the hidden gems in Prague, especially if you enjoy eating traditional Middle-Eastern food. Cooked to perfection, you have hummus, falafel, tons of salads and plenty of various types of meat.
It’s impossible not to find something tasty here, and the prices are decent for such a good place that’s also centrally located. For example, for our family of three, we usually spent around €40 Euros per meal, with tips included.

2. Chinese Bistro Man Yi Ge
Eating on a budget is something I enjoy doing, and Chinese Bistro Man Yi Ge is an amazing spot for that.
You will probably never find this kind of restaurants in a guidebook or any article recommending great restaurants in Prague, but the food here is amazing, the portions are huge and the price is really low. Exactly what you expect from a Chinese restaurant.
This is also a place that we did visit 2 or 3 times during our stay and each time tried something different and we were always pleased. While the interior isn’t spectacular by any means, the food is great and aplenty – and the staff is nice.
You can see it on Google Maps Here – it’s right next to the Zborovska bus / tram station. Make sure to actually enter the Chinese Restaurant (Man Yi Ge), as there’s also a Thai one right next to it, but on the corner.
3. Sova
Sova IS one of those restaurants that you always see recommended in guide books and we decided to visit it since our apartment was actually located in the same building.
(In the mean time, they’ve decided to move to a new location.)
The food was good and the presentation was even better. Plus, it was one of the few places in Prague that had air conditioning, which was a big bonus for the hot summer days.
Not cheap – on the contrary – but the food was great and portions of just the right size. Definitely check it out if you’re looking for a fancier place to enjoy a meal. Expect to pay around €20 for one main course.

4. Cantina
I’ve visited Cantina in Praha 6 several times and have never been disappointed. This is as close as it gets to the Mexican food you can get in San Diego, California without actually going to California.
The prices are a bit expensive by normal Prague standards. And this is a restaurant that is pretty far off the track as far as tourism goes (as it’s on the other side of the river from the Old Town Square).
They have a large selection of tequila, too. And plenty of other goodies, making the trip outside of the city center truly worthwhile.
Expect to pay around €20 for a fajita (delicious!) or quesadilla. Basically, any main meal will be around €20 per person and delicious.

5. Pho Family
If Chinese food is not your thing, or you want some variety when it comes to budget-friendly meals, I recommend Pho Family in Praha 2.
Prague definitely has an (over) saturation of family-owned Asian restaurants. Generally speaking, the dinkier and more hole-in-the-wall an Asian place looks–the better it is!
Pho Family gives that impression from the outside, but the decor inside (and the food!) don’t disappoint. The food is great, cheap, and the portions large. Just like with the Chinese restaurant I recommended above, we never managed to finish everything.
Expect to pay around €8 per main meal, but you’ll take some back home to enjoy later. Perfect! I recommend the Pho Ba Ga (loved it there) and their amazing Bum Bo Nam Bo.

6. Quick pick: Best ice cream in Prague
For the best ever ice cream you will ever have (at least in Prague, that is), make sure to check out the Amorino Gelato Cafe.
It’s always packed and a little expensive, but totally worth it.
7. Quick pick: Perfect sandwiches
For a quick sandwich that’s fingerlicking good, the BB’s (Bageterie Boulevard) that you can find in various places throughout the city is PERFECT.
We loved their sandwich box (pictured above) – various options, easy to transport. It was the option that we choose for our picnic at Stromovka Park, but it’s a good choice for whenever you’re in a hurry and need a quick, delicious bite.
8. Pizzeria Einstein
Pizzeria Einstein (in Prague 2) was our favorite pizza place and our son’s favorite spot in Prague, despite all the other amazing restaurants we checked out during our stay.
So if you love pizza, this is the place to go. They have cheap options overall, the atmosphere there is amazing and there’s plenty of beer for adults too. One pizza here costs around 11 Euros as it’s not in Prague’s most touristy area.
Tip: If you want dessert, order it after the pizza. We ordered ice-cream and pizza once and the waitress happily brought us the ice-cream first.

9. Loving Hut Vinohrady (perfect vegan food)
For cheap, delicious vegan food in Prague, we chose Loving Hut Vinohrady. There are multiple Loving Huts in Prague and I can only imagine that the food is equally tasty everywhere.
I liked everything we ate there, including the vegan cakes which were out of this world. Prices are really low too (around 8 Euros per meal), so you’ve got an added bonus. Water is free of charge.

10. Smíchovský radniční sklípek
First things first: don’t ask me to pronounce that! But as far as traditional Czech food goes, this is my #1 recommendation in Prague. You don’t have to know how to say its name to enjoy the food, right?
Prepare to enjoy plenty of greasy, yet tasty meat-based dishes, my top recommendation being their roasted pork knuckle (either with bone or without – depending on how messy you’re ready to get). It’s insanely delicious!
There are plenty of options, too and the prices are surprisingly low for such an amazing place. Expect to pay around €12 for one main dish.

These are just the top 10 restaurants every visitor should check out. If you still have time for more, Prague definitely has options. Here are, in a quicker burst mode, more recommended restaurants in Prague:
- Bistro Antonio Sandev – Fabulous Mediterranean food, centrally located & great prices. Vegan and Gluten-free options available. Check it out on Google Maps here.
- Restaurant Meat Beer – Based on its name, it will probably not surprise you with the menu. Plenty of meat-based dishes and varied options for local beer. Plus various other options, including Czech cuisine & more. I also love the industrial, old school feel of this place. Find it on Google Maps.
- FAT CAT – Not just a cool name, a cool restaurant overall. Gluten free and lactose free options available, as well as some dishes for probably all styles of eating. But still focusing mostly on delicious, hearty, meat-based meals. Great beer too (many craft beer options), all paired up with a central location. Check it out on Google Maps.
- Beer Restaurant U Černého Medvěda – Last but not least, we have this restaurant serving mostly traditional Czech food. A bit on the pricier side, but worth it as a treat. I’ve marked it on Google Maps here.
Now you know the absolute best restaurants in Prague. I’m sure your mouth is watering already… so pick one (or two) and enjoy your meal!
